The nurse shall have patient record an exercise log. (accountability). The patient should have a list of goals and reward for those goals related to reducing overall caloric intake. (will increase compliance).
Patient will keep a journal of total intake every time food is consumed and mark where improvement can be made. (accountability, ongoing education experience)
4. Smell There is a lot that a nurse can tell just by using their sense of smell. Be it the smell of your patients urine, an infected wound or stools. Once youve established something doesnt smell right, a nurse is able to proceed with confidence.
Patient will display (you choose how) a working knowledge of how to read a food label after nurse demonstrates (you choose method according to patients best way of learning)
As nurses, we are grateful for monitoring equipment. The equipment tells us what we need to know at the touch of a button. But, we also know that relying on these machines alone can take the skill out of nursing. In the absence of monitoring equipment, there is no need to panic. The human body possesses what we need to carry out a basic if not effective nursing, life-saving assessment/judgement should things go wrong - our senses! A nurse needs to be able to tell if something is off just by using their senses.
